AVCON provided construction phase services for the
paving and lighting of a 1,000-foot runway extension
project including the installation of a 4-box PAPI
system.
Runway 3-21
and Airfield Pavement Rehabilitation
AVCON provided the design and construction phase services
for the rehabilitation and strengthening of the
5,500-foot runway, two connector taxiways, and the
aircraft apron. The new runway lighting system was also
included. Additionally, the project included a new
partial parallel taxiway to Runway 21 (approximately
1,800 feet) with edge lighting and extensions to the
current apron. Pavements were designed for 45,000 and
60,000 pound wheel loads and several alternate bid
schedules were utilized to maximize available funding.
Pavements were ultimately constructed to accommodate
60,000 pound wheel loads.
